Palliative Care provides a collection of services designed to meet the medical and emotional needs of seriously ill patient in order to relieve suffering and to improve the quality of life of patients.
Team members address issues such as nausea and vomiting, pain, weakness, mental confusion, and other symptoms related to the disease or its treatment. A social worker and chaplain can provide short-term counseling and emotional support.

Caregiver Counselor & Respite Program Coordinator
Respite program provides substitute home care and friendly visiting services to relieve the primary in-home caregiver for planned short periods of time.
Caregiver and family support counseling is available. The program is supported through contributions.
Geriatric Care Management services are also available.

The Kinship Navigator is a statewide program specifically designed to provide information and resources to kinship caregivers across all of New York State. Kinship caregivers are grandparents raising grandchildren and others who have assumed the role of parenting the child of a relative.
The NYS Kinship Navigator provides:
- Fact sheets on laws and resources
- Answers to frequently asked questions on kinship care
- County guides on kinship caregiving
- Forums for caretakers and service providers
- Access to a kinship specialist via a toll free phone number
- Legal rights regarding custody and visitation
- Decision-making authority
- Access to official records
- Eligibility for public assistance, foster care, tax credits, childcare, and respite
- Other resources for kinship caregivers

County residents who meet program guidelines qualify for home care services through the Expanded In-home Services for the Elderly Program (EISEP) and Medicaid.
Additional services include:
